I think I have an idea of what space hulk is, but could someone run the general layout by me?

Im not too sure of it myself, but I think its a bunch of termies running around a genestealer infested ship that was long ago lost in a warp storm and reapeared or somethin'. It takes place in the tight corridors of a ship.
As I said, Im not too sure about what you actually do, but I think that is the general layout of it.

I have the computer version of a GW game by the name of Space Hulk. I'm not sure if that is what you are talking about but you start out as five terminators and your task is to kill all the aliens (tryanids) that are aboard. The computer version that i have was for Ms-Dos (just that tells you how old this game is) and i was never any good at it since i was only four at the time.

That sounds fun... I wish orks could be tied into it somehow.

Holy s***, I remember that old DOS game. I was wondering why the hell someone would do a forum about that thing, but didn't realize that it was an old table top game.
I did hear one time that the reason why Genestealers are blue plastic is because they are left over from the Space Hulk days.

i played a demo of space hulk at a convention a few years back. it was the first time i ever played it, and i loved it. it was a guy from GW running the demo so they might be planning on re-releasing it. being those genestealers and tearing those termies up was fun as hell. i lost, but i had nine terminators in my kills collumn, including the one with the flamer and the one with the assault cannon.
the rules arre different, and the terrain is a grid that represents a spacee hulk. if you have a chance to play, take it. its fun as hell even when you are losing.

space hulk is an amazing game, if u get a chance buy it! basically its 'Aliens' inspired. with termies trying to do objectives onboard this hulk e.g. destory rooms or retch areas. there was a dos game brought out ages ago, but space hulk has been out longer. yes thats y the old genestealers were blue, cuz they were made that colour for SH. you can now get it on ur mobile (cell fone) too, how ace?

What is space hulk? Do you use normal warhammer 40k modals for it.

It is basically a elite termy squad hunts down gene stealers and blows up stuff in a space hulk and so is the game (I had it and have an old copy somewhere I love it but I dunno if it runs on this I hope it does when I find it.) Its great and if they incorporated the other armies it would be a great way for army builders or new players to build up forces and still play the game.

We would all want to see space hulk return. So the answer is no.Gamesworkshop thinks its better to have games like LOTR than games most of us would want to play. And why the hell did GW not get the contract for starship troopers.Someone at Gamesworkshop is asleep at the wheel.

Games Workshop has downloads for Space Hulk game board tiles and kill team rules to play using your new terminators. The new rules work pretty well.

Hah - I'm old enough to remember not only Space Hulk, but also Space Crusade.
The DOS Space Hulk game was brilliant - it came out just before Doom, circa Wolf3D and was at the time a great combo of FPS (such as it was back then) and strategy. One on the most "oh *edit* oh *edit* oh *edit*" type games I've ever played... The Aliens Versus Predator of the early 90s really.
Here's the vid of the intro to the game for those of you who like nostalgia - I'm ready to go now!!

I'm sorry I haven't bothered to read the rest of the thread and don't know if I'm rezzing but I've gotta go in a few minutes. So THAT is why I have that blue Genestealer? I never knew my dad ever bought Space Hulk, although... it was probably from before I was born.

well that vid was ok, of course its old, but seroiusly, why was there a part where all the genestealers did was run up to you doig the same thing while you kill them the same way, it seemed pretty lame even if it was out during that time

Warforger, that game looks amazing by those standards. The Sega Genesis barely surpassed that game.

If you can locate the rules for it,try and get the original 1st edition ones,as they had a time limit on the SM player. If i remember correctly, you only had 2 min to plan and move your troops each turn. This wasn't much of a problem during the early turns of the game, but later when you had a mass of enemy blips on the board,it really upped the tension levels. If you hadn't finished your move in the allotted time, then any models that hadn't had their turn yet couldn't be used. The 2nd version of the game did away with the time constraints, and the game ,although still good, lost a lot of it's atmosphere and tension.

This game got me into the 40K world. I do believe that version 1 Pre-Dates the Aliens movie. You had a 2 minute time rule if your sergeant was still alive, otherwise it was 1.5 mins. I played only the first version, have it and all the expansions, and it's still one of my top games. There were 2 expansions: Deathwing with a cool back story on the dark Angels and their white Termie armor, which introduced other weapons for the game (lightning claw, thunderhammer, autocannon, plasma gun & my first acquaintance with the assault cannon)and shooty genestealers, and Genestealer, which brought a loppy psychic game, librarians vs psykers, where you cast your spells using cards. It was very frustrating (I think most ignored the psychic rules, and used the old Librarian rules from Deathwing. They also put out a book, Space Hulk Campaigns, which has linked stories (if marines won, they get extra guys for the next scenario, Stealer win means you lose a termie from your squad the next game.)

Whoops - checked the rules - 3 minutes if you had a sergeant on the board, 2.5 if he got clawed.

I know a store in Walthem, MA -Danger Planet- that plays Space hulk every Halloween, but with ultraviolet lights, and flourescent Terminators, Genestealers, and board.
Orange fuel rivers, awesome.

I have two box sets of space crusade. Never played space hulk, but crusade was awesome. Was basic marines, with tarantula platforms, conversion beams (yes, they AREN'T New), rockets, and you were against orks, genes, gretchin, androids, chaos and these awesome modelled dreadnoughts with about 5 guns. *edit* I love that game.
