Hi, I Played some Games with 1500 and 2000 Points, it always worked good. But now i have some new playing mates with only a few figures and i completely fail against them.
We're figthing at 1000 Points and i suck most vs Space marines. (And Imperials and mass-gaunt-Tyranids :P) The Devastators take out my Destroyers with ease. Until my Warriors reach the Space marines in thier hide, they are blown up. I cant wait like the Space marines, cause if i would, the Marines would tear me apart with Plasma, Laz0r and stuff.
So far, it worked good to send some Scarabs in, to attack the Heavy weapons, but it just isnt enough. :P
I avoid Monolith, cause im afraid of phase out, same for Nightbringer. And i usually have to put a few Pariahs in, cause i dont know if she's using some Terminators or not.
Last game i tried to send hordes of Phantoms with Destro lord in. Worked against the heavy weapons, but there is a slightly remarkable lack of firepower. :P And sacrificing 450 points to kill one devastor troop was more fun than efficient. xD
What are you guys play in a 1000 Points Game? Some universal tipps?
/Edit Warriors suck Want heavy weapons or smaller troops. ^^

note: Warriors are awesome basic troops. You have no need for heavy weapons; only issue I could see is wanting a vet sarge. Tough luck, that's what you get for being twice as durable for 2 points more then a marine.
As for what to take: I'd advice a res-vod-lord, 2 units of Warriors, and a big unit of Immortals (full 10). If you have points after that, I'd go scarabs, for combat support. Easiest way to fight 'crons at low points is to phase 'em, and with units like Destroyers and Pariahs in your army you're just making it easier to get phased; they're too expensive for too little return. VoD the Immortals (or walk, depending on board) into position to hit their heavy support on turn 1, paste 'em, and let the implacable march begin. Shouldn't be all THAT bad; what sort of army does your opponenent take?

We are always use other armys. They have about 1400 Points, but we play at 1000 cause then its always a little bit different. There can be one troop of everything thats not a tank.
I didnt use vod till now, cause if i go 2d6 into a bad position, it hits me very hard if the troop is gone. In addition if there survives one or two plasma cannons, i losse probably the whole troop in round one.
But i will try this. ^^

VoD with Immortals; that way you can put yourself ~12 inches away and still only scatter on average 7, leaving you in range if you scatter away, and not landing on them if you scatter towards them. MUCH better then VoDing with Warriors. As for plasma cannons; naturally take them out first! Those things should be a top priority, even without VoD!

Monolith in 1500pt games = Very scary landraider.
Monolith in 1000pt games = Jesus F. Christ
C'tan in 1500pt games = Scary *edit*
C'tan in 1000pt games = You've won the game
Why wouldn't you use a Temple of cheat in a low point game? Sure they've got Las but that's not very likely to kill it.
Plus the Deceiver can take unparalleled quantities of hate and walk away laughing. You tell me how to kill something w/T 8 in a 1000pt game.

BOOSH.
Also, what I'd suggest for lower points games... an army with cheaper units.

Cheap units cry when they face armor 14 with special nullification.

Really? I'm not so sure about that....most armies have cheap units that also have tank-busting power...

@prof. brown: Such as my Wolf Lord on TW with a Thunderhammer. S10 thunderhammer? Yes please!
Seriously, pick units that will make it harder to force a phase-out on you. Soul hit it right on the head. Warriors, Immortals and a Res-VoD-Lord.
