Heavy Support 450
-XV88 Broadside team
--2 Broadside shas'ui
----targeting arrays
--1 Broadside team leader
----targeting array
----HW drone controller
------shield drone

-Hammerhead Gunship
---Railgun
---smart missle system
---Multi tracker
---Target lock
---Flechette Discharger
---Disruption pod

In total it comes out to 1998 points.

a special note would be that every unit with access to the armory gains a bonding knife at no cost since Farsight is in the army.

My tactic would be for the Broadside team to provide anti-armor fire from afar and overwatch while the XV8's, firewarriors and Hammerhead takes down units spotted by the outflanking pathfinder teams. ( the pathfinder teams would be put into reserve for outflanking.)

i think that the XV8's would deploy normally too. not sure about that though.

the hammerhead is make to go up closer to the fight for anti armor and anti larger enemies. hah. but yeah let me know what you think.

thanks :)

it looks like you spent a TON on Crisis Suits....have you given thought to how you'll deal with units that kill them really easy (Vindicators, Assault Terminators, Zoanthropes, and the like)? IME, the Tau do best with a lot of "spray" type fire, supported by BSides; the Suits are nice, but often get killed too easy to justify the points, especially on Bodyguard teams...

actually, wouldn't the broadsides covering the army be focusing on threats from afar? so i dont think the battlesuits are in much danger. also the battlesuits count as infantry killers shooting at most 4 shots each, and with the str7 misslepod can take down lighter vehicles and more elite infantry. So i think the points put in the battlesuits are well spent.

hey, if it works in your local meta, great! I just know that I usually don't have a real hard time killing them; the 72 FW list is actually very scary, especially supported by 9 BSides

I'm a classic Space Marine player, through and through. I toy around with Shrike from time to time, but usually just have a Biker lead my army and take those Bike Troop slots supported by Vindicators and CC Terminators :-D

hahah niceee.... space marines are pretty sick. Yeah you would probably destroy a tau player with those bikes.. anything that moves fast with power armor is pretty much the revalations to any tau player... hah. and vindicators? ouch. sit me out for that one.

lots of suits like previously stated. I'm not a fan of the targeting array when those extra points could be drones to take any str 8 or higher shots for the suits.

Another thing i am unsure of is the outflanking Path's. Being a heavy weapon and all i feel starting on the table is much more of an advantage since your minimum turn for marker light useage becomes turn 3. And yes soul's shrike and bike army is disturbingly fast and terrible to play against.....

well that is a very good point... and that did not cross my mind... umm well they would start with the group in transports and i gues the first turn would move 12'' then next turn disembark and fire markerlights? any other suggestions on how to work that ?

as a tyranid player. the suits seem to do okay, but i am far more scared of fire warriors and pathfinders. strength in numbers has hurt me many times and now playing the game smart as well. on top of it as you are a tau player. if you got a crafty nid player you are up against. be ready for carnifexes, zoanthropes and warriors in your face, you will only get 1 round of shooting against em after they shoot you.

i also understand the fact the tau run alot of units that support each other well(mainly pathfinders). no one likes getting hit my shooting at a 2+ and no cover save.

These army lists are based around the one in the 5th edition rulebook by the way. on page218 if you mind to check. Yeahup so heres it.

HQ 234
Shas'O commander
---Plasma rifle
---Missle pod
---Multi tracker
---Stimulant injector

Shas'O commander
---Plasma rifle
---Missle pod
---Multi tracker

Elites: 154

Heavy Support 610
-XV88 Broadside team

----targeting arrays
--1 Broadside team leader
----targeting array
----HW drone controller
------shield drone

-Hammerhead Gunship
---Railgun
---smart missle system
---Multi tracker
---Target lock
---Flechette Discharger
---Disruption pod

-2 Sniper Drone Teams

In total it comes out to 1997 points.

I revised it, added in sniper drones cause they could be very useful plus they come with a markerlight. Also i added another group of firewarriors. Ummm lets see... oh i took out the bodyguards and the special character Farsight. the suits are more survivable when in seperate squads so your enemy cannot target all of them at once. let me know,, worse or better then the last list?

Tactics wise this time i figured the whole army moves together with the Firewarriors up front, pathfinders behind dropping seekermissles and adding to balistic skill, and the hammer head following around them. Plus the battlesuits taking the flanks or something. oh and the sniper teams will pin and pick off little things from the flanks also. The broadsides still stay in the back and provide long range firepower on big targets. Well. let me know what you think.

Thanks.

1) Why upgrade a single suit to be a team leader?
2) Why take 2 Commanders? Better just to take the 1 and save the extra points on another 2-3 suits for Elites.

Other'n that, not too bad.

you would upgrade them to team leaders because they can then access the wargear, thus hard-wired items. Battlesuits are only good when they can used hard-wired stuff in my opinion. And 2 commanders also are used instead of having 2 more regular battlesuits because they're better and will be put to use like normal battlesuits.

2 or 3 suits are WAY better then a commander. they get 2-3x as much fire, and with your Markerlights, they'll be just as accurate. Likewise, the "Leaders" don't really need targeting arrays; dropping them, and the Leader upgrade, could provide points for more bodies, who can also take more benefit from the Markerlights (which are a reason to go with big squads instead of little ones)

that is very true. i will consider myself owned. hah. now... so what should i change? make it so there's only one crisis leader? since i'm required to have one? make him join one of the battlsuit teams?

Alright. heres what i've got for the crisis scenario.

HQ: 87
Shas'el commander
---Plasma rifle
---Missile pod
---Multi tracker

Elites: 310
-3 Man Crisis suit team
----plasma rifle
----missle pod
----Multi-tracker

-2 Man Crisis suit team
----plasma rifle
----missle pod
----Multi-tracker

Fast Attack: 324
-6 Pathfinders
---Devilfish
-----disruption pod

-6 Pathfinders
---Devilfish
-----disruption pod
-----Seeker Missle

Troops: 675
-12 Fire Warriors
---Pulse rifles
---1 being a shas'ui
---Devilfish
-----Disruption pod
-----Seeker missle

-12 Fire Warriors
---Pulse rifles
---1 being a shas'ui
---Devilfish
-----Disruption pod
-----Seeker missle

-12 Fire Warriors
---Pulse rifles
---1 being a shas'ui
---Devilfish
-----Disruption pod
-----Seeker missle

Heavy Support 610
-XV88 Broadside team
--2 Broadside shas'ui
----targeting arrays
--1 Broadside team leader
----targeting array
----HW drone controller
------shield drone

-Hammerhead Gunship
---Railgun
---smart missle system
---Multi tracker
---Target lock
---Flechette Discharger
---Disruption pod

-2 Sniper Drone Teams

Alright. So i took out the other commander, shaved down the first commander, then i made 2 squads of crisis suits one 3 and one 2 then i'll add my commander to one of those squads as an independent character. And yeah pretty much everything else stays the same. Whattaya think?
